Best Pet Groomers in Durango, CO (2026): Top-Rated, Ranked
The top-rated pet groomers in Durango, Colorado are Dog Gone Gorgeous, Healthy Hounds and Fat Cats, and Pawsh Pet Salon and Boutique — ranked here from 7 pet groomers by their live Google ratings and review counts.
Ranked by a weighted score that blends each pet groomer's live Google star rating with its review count. Only pet groomers with at least 10 Google reviews are ranked, so a long track record outranks a perfect score from a handful of visits.
Colorado licenses pet groomers. The Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act, run by the Colorado Department of Agriculture, requires grooming and wash shops and solo groomers to hold a PACFA license that renews every year and comes with inspections. As of October 2025 the state counted 1,270 licensed grooming and wash facilities. Ask any Durango groomer for a license number. Then ask what happens if your dog is stressed on the table.

How to choose the right pet groomer in Durango
- Ask for the groomer's PACFA license number. Running a grooming business without a license is a deceptive trade practice under Colorado law.
- Licensed pet care shops must tell customers about a suspected disease outbreak within 24 hours. Ask how the shop keeps in touch.
- Ask which shot records they require. Bring your rabies certificate. County code requires it for dogs and cats in unincorporated La Plata County.
- Ask how they handle nervous, senior, or reactive dogs. Ask if a pet is ever left alone in a dryer or crate.
- Ask what the price includes, such as bath, brush-out, nail trim, and ear cleaning. Ask how matting is charged.
