Best Barber Shops in Durango, CO (2026): Top-Rated, Ranked
The top-rated barber shops in Durango, Colorado are Legend's Barber Shop, A Cut Above Barbershop, and Dyan's Studio of Hair Design — ranked here from 7 barber shops by their live Google ratings and review counts.
Ranked by a weighted score that blends each barber shop's live Google star rating with its review count. Only barber shops with at least 5 Google reviews are ranked, so a long track record outranks a perfect score from a handful of visits.
Colorado licenses barbers, and the rule is old. The state Barber Board began in 1909 and merged with the cosmetology board in 1977. Today DORA's barber and cosmetology office licenses barbers and registers shops, and you can check any barber in the state license lookup. Past the license, a barbershop is a repeat-visit business, so the review history matters more than the decor. Ask for the license number if it is not posted.

How to choose the right barber shop in Durango
- Search the barber's name in the DORA license lookup. Look for the shop's registration too.
- Ask if the shop works by appointment, walk-in, or both. Ask how long the wait runs on Saturdays.
- Bring a photo of the cut you want, or the clipper guard numbers you like, so the barber does not have to guess what a little off the sides means to you.
- Want a straight-razor shave? Ask how the blade is handled and whether it is single-use.
- Ask the price for a cut, a beard trim, and both. Know the total before you sit.
