No. We checked Costco's Colorado warehouse directory and independent store lists on October 22, 2026. None shows a warehouse in Durango. Here is what the town does have, and where people go instead.
Where is the nearest Costco to Durango?
Colorado has 16 Costco warehouses, according to a StoreLocators list updated in October 2026. They sit in the Denver area, Colorado Springs, Longmont, Parker, Timnath and Gypsum. None is in the Four Corners. The same list service shows three warehouses in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and none elsewhere in that state (StoreLocators).
Here are the warehouses on those lists that sit closest to Durango:
| Warehouse | Address | Phone |
|---|---|---|
| Albuquerque (west side) | 9955 Coors Bypass NW | 505-922-7400 |
| Albuquerque (north) | 1420 N Renaissance Blvd NE | 505-345-9411 |
| Albuquerque (southeast) | 500 Eubank Blvd SE | 505-332-6603 |
| Gypsum, Colorado | 170 Cooley Mesa Rd | 970-328-7603 |
The Gypsum warehouse is across the Western Slope, and the Albuquerque three are in the opposite direction. Neither is a casual errand from Durango.
Grand Junction is the one to watch. A 2023 announcement, reposted by the Economic Development Council of Colorado, said Costco picked a site off 24 Road and Interstate 70 in Grand Junction, with an opening expected in 2026. It is not on the October 2026 lists above. Check Costco's own locator before you drive.
Does Durango have a Walmart, Target or Home Depot?
Two of the three:
| Store | In Durango? | Address |
|---|---|---|
| Walmart Supercenter | Yes | 1155 S Camino del Rio |
| The Home Depot | Yes | 1301 S Camino del Rio |
| Target | No | Not on Target's Colorado list |
| Lowe's | No | Not on the Colorado list we checked |
Walmart's own directory shows one store in Durango, the Supercenter at 1155 S Camino del Rio. Its phone number is 970-259-8755, and its store page says it opens at 6 a.m. every day. The page also lists a garden center, deli, liquor, FedEx and Coinstar services. The Home Depot's store page lists store #1534 at 1301 S Camino del Rio as the Durango location, with hours of 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and curbside pickup from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Both stores sit on the same road, so you can run both errands in one drive.
Target does not have a Durango store. Its Colorado store directory lists cities from Arvada to Wheat Ridge, including Grand Junction, Montrose and Pueblo, but not Durango. Lowe's is missing too. The Colorado Lowe's list has a Grand Junction store and no Durango store.
What can you buy in bulk or for the house in Durango?
Plenty. Walmart is the closest thing to a one-stop big-box trip. Its store page lists grocery pickup and delivery, a garden center and a deli. Independent shops fill in the rest, such as Kroegers Ace Hardware at 8 Town Plaza, which our directory shows with a 4.5 Google rating across 554 reviews.
For food in bulk, the Durango Natural Foods Co-op sells produce, groceries, bulk goods and deli items at 575 E 8th Avenue. Our list of Durango grocery stores covers the rest. None of these is a membership warehouse, so pack sizes and prices differ from Costco's.
Where do locals shop when the chain is not here?
Durango leans on independents for gear and clothing. Backcountry Experience, at 1205 Camino del Rio, is the outdoor flagship, rated 4.7 on Google across 336 reviews. Mountain Bike Specialists at 949 Main Ave sells bikes and cycling clothing. Boot Barn, at 830 S Camino del Rio, covers Western boots and workwear.
